giant magnetic-inductance (GMI)
In addition to the various magnetic-resistive effects used in magnetic field sensors, there is also a magnetic-inductive effect, Giant Magnetic-Inductance (GMI).
The GMI effect occurs in wires whose surface is coated with a magnetic material whose magnetization direction runs in a ring around the wire. If a magnetic field running in the longitudinal direction is applied to such a wire, the magnetic flux in the coating changes and leads to a change in inductance at high frequencies due to the influence of the skin effect.
