hard disk recorder (HDR)

A hard disk recorder ( HDR) works like an analog tape recorder, but with hard disks.

Hard disk recorders are used in audio technology and typically have 24 to 48 tracks. The audio signals are sampled at 24 bits at sampling rates between 48 kHz and 96 kHz. Hard disk recorders have Alesis DigitalAudio Tape( ADAT), Tascam Digital Interface( TDIF), or the Audio Engineering Society's AES/ EBU interface(AES3) as interfaces. They also have interchangeable file formats via Digital Audio Workstations( DAW).
