Heterostructure is a technique used to develop materials with special optical or electronic properties. From the meaning of the word, hetero means "different".
In terms of heterostructure, this means that materials with different lattice structures are combined with each other.
In semiconductor technology, heterostructure is used to combine two or more layers of differently structured and doped semiconductors and can thus be used to develop more powerful components or those for a higher frequency range. However, heterostructure is also used in other areas, such as DVDs, Blu-Ray discs, optical transmission or magneto-resistive components.
