An incubator, or business incubator, is an innovation center for technology startups. Incubators are often the starting point for e-commerce start-ups and enable the development of a mature business plan.

The objectives of an incubator are to provide the optimal framework conditions such as premises, IT infrastructure, financial resources, etc. for the start-up of a young technology company. Incubators are often characterised by the fact that they provide the company founders not only with material resources but also with management support and entrepreneurial feedback. Incubators are usually financed by venture capital investors or by universities and other public sector sponsors.
