medium earth orbiter (satellite comm.) (MEO)
Satellites orbiting the Earth at an altitude of 10,000 km to 30,000 km are called MEO satellites, MediumEarth Orbiters or Intermediate Circular Orbit( ICO).
The advantage of these satellites is the shorter propagation delay compared to GEO satellites, which is particularly disadvantageous for data transmission. On the other hand, the area that can be broadcast is much smaller, which means that several satellites have to be used to broadcast the same area of the earth.
