object push profile (Bluetooth) (OPP)

The Object Push Profile(OPP) supports the transfer of data objects from a client to a server in Bluetooth networks. With this Bluetooth profile, a data object can be stored in the directory of a remote Bluetooth device.

The OPP profile is used, for example, to exchange addresses and appointments between personalcomputers, smartphones, cell phones and PDAs.

The OPP function can also be used for marketing and sales activities, sending a push message with a purchase offer to a shopper's smartphone. This technology becomes interesting when used in conjunction with location tracking, where the product can be purchased in the store in front of which the smartphone user is currently located.
