positioning determining technology (location) (PDT)

There are various technologies for locating mobile devices. All techniques in which positioning is performed via the cellular networks are referred to as Positioning Determining Technology (PDT).

PDT techniques include radio cell-based methods such as Cell Identity or Cell Of Origin( COO) and time-based methods such as Time Of Arrival (TOA), Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA), Angle of Arrival ( AoA) and Enhanced Observed Time Difference ( E-OTD) for GSM networks, as well as Observed Time Difference of Arrival (OTDOA) and Uplink Time Difference of Arrival (UTDOA) of UMTS.
