service node interface (MAN) (SNI)
The service node interface (SNI) is the interface between the service node( SN) and the access network.
Depending on the network constellation - whether broadband or optical network - the SNI interface forms the interface from the optical access network( OAN) to the core network, which is formed by a passive optical network( PON).
Incarrier Ethernet, the service node interface (SNI) forms the demarcation between the network point at which Ethernet services are handed over from the metro Ethernet network to the packet-oriented services of the access network. The service node represents a reference point comparable to the V reference point in ISDN or B-ISDN.
