ISO 26262 is the standard for functional safety of electric and electronically controlled vehicles. Several safety requirements are defined in this standard.

For example, ISO 26262 describes the Failures in Time( FIT), the Single Point Fault Metric (SPFM) and the Latent Fault Metric( LFM). These safety requirements are incorporated into the Automotive Safety Integrity Level( ASIL).

As for the Single Point Fault Metric (SPFM), this characteristic value expresses the robustness of a system, and the impact that a system failure has on the other functions. The SPFM rate is expressed as a digit. The higher the digit, the more precautions must be taken to prevent the overall system from failing. The activities are aimed at detecting individual failures.
