sound (file format) (SND)

The Sound File Format (SND) is an audio file format used by NeXT and Sun. The SND file consists of the file header and the data.

As with Waveform Audio File Format(WAV), the audio data can be encoded in Pulse CodeModulation( PCM), Adaptive Delta Pulse Code Modulation( ADPCM), the µ-law method, or the A-law method. The file header describes the file format, the number of channels, the sampling rate, and optional features.
