state media laws (Germany)

State media laws (LMG), which are part of the media laws, exist in every federal state. The State Media Act dates from 2005 and has been amended several times in subsequent years.

The basis for the state media laws (LMG) is the Interstate Broadcasting Treaty(RStV). The state media laws set out state-specific regulations and individual licensing. Frequencies are allocated after review by the State Media Authority(LMA).

The state media laws deal with their scope, media freedom, protection of minors, the obligation to provide information, data protection and much more.
