time-triggered protocol (automotive) (TTP)

The time-triggered TTP protocol (Time-Triggered Protocol) forms the transmission protocol of the TTP/A (Class A) and TTP/C (Class C) fieldbuses.

The TTP protocol can be used for the transmission of time-critical signals in automotive, railroad and aircraft technology as well as in special vehicles. The protocol, which is characterized by its high data security, has deterministic timing for the guaranteed response time behavior. The data rates of the TTP protocol are up to 25 Mbit/s.

Generally, in time-triggered applications the processes are not triggered by events such as interrupts or time-outs, but by a static schedule with a defined temporal grid plan.
