ANT communication

The Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN) set up with ANT+ consist of individual ANT nodes or ANT devices. Each ANT channel consists of one or more ANT nodes in which the data is transmitted uni- and bidirectionally. They have as receiving and transmitting functions.

In ANT+ communication, there are three transmission modes: broadcasting, acknowledged mode and burst mode. In broadcasting, messages go from one ANT node to the next, and the receiving node does not send an acknowledgement. This operation works extremely economically and is particularly suitable for sensory applications.

Acknowledgement mode is used to acknowledge data pacts. In this mode, the transmitter is informed of correct or faulty reception, but without repetition. The operation mode is intended for monitoring applications. And in burst mode, correct reception is also confirmed, faulty data packets, equipped with sequence numbers, are requested and retransmitted. The maximum net data rate is 20 kbit/s in burst mode.

ANT communication is encrypted with the Advanced Encryption Standard( AES) with 128 bits.
