FidoNet address

The FidoNet address is structured according to the hierarchy in the sequence zones, network, nodes and points. The write format is: Zone:Network/Node.Point. Example: 2:158/2.2.

The zone identifier is 1 for the USA, 2 for Europe, 3 for Australia and Hong Kong, 4 for South America and 5 for South Africa. Zone digits are always one- digit, region digits are two-digit, and network digits are three-digit. The FidoNet address must only be written completely if the point is located in another zone. Otherwise you are limited to the next higher hierarchy level which has to be addressed. For example, if both points are in the Europe zone (2) and the addressed point is 2:108/1.0, 108/1 can be used as the identical address.
