IEEE 802.3 1000Base-LH

1000Base-LH, LH stands for Long Haul, is an Ethernet interface ofGigabit Ethernet that operates like 1000Base-ZX with a single mode fiber, but at a wavelength of 1,310 nm.

Distances of up to 10 km can be bridged with this GbE variant. Like all variants working with optical fib ers, 1000Base-LH uses 8B/10B coding.

The 1000Base-LH interface is implemented in Mini Gigabit Interface Converters( MGBIC), which are designed as optical transceivers known as SPF modules. They contain the SC connectors for the multimode fibers, the optical transmitter and receiver, and the coder and decoder.
