IEEE 802.3aq

The IEEE 802.3aq working group deals with the transmission of 10 Gigabit Ethernet over multimode fibers.

For this application the interface10GBase-LRM was defined, which works with the existing signaling with 64B66B coding. 50-µm and 62.5-µm fibers with the known bandwidth length products can be used as multimode fibers, which can then be used to bridge distances of 220 m with classic gradient fibers and 300 m with better fiber quality.
