IEEE 802.8

The Fiber Optic Technical Advisary Group (FOTAG) has developed guidelines for the use of fiber optics in the LAN area: Fiber Optic CSMA/ CD Network Approaches

The second central topic deals with the use of plastic fibers for inexpensive connection of terminal equipment to local area networks.

The IEEE 802.8 working group has not developed any standards and has discontinued its activities.
