Internet tax freedom act

In 1998, an important law for the American e-commerce industry was passed: the Internet Tax Freedom Act. The law, initiated by politicians Christopher Cox and Ron Wyden, aims to expand Internet commerce and clearly regulate taxation. In the US, there are taxing powers at the local, county, state and national levels. The Internet Tax Freedom Act prevents taxation of various sites, as well as taxation of Internet access or e-mail. The act was signed into law on October 21, 1998 by then President Bill Clinton.
