JESD204

With the JESD204 interface, the Joint Electron Device Engineering Council( JEDEC) has standardized a serial interface for data converters.

A fast serial connection between A/D converters and logics can be realized via the JESD204. It is a two- wire interface supporting code rates between 312.5 Mbit/s and 3.125 Gbit/s.

The data stream is transmitted in 8B/10B coding, which has the advantage that no additional clock signal has to be transmitted, since the clock signal for the decoder is obtained from the data stream, and that the DC components in the signal transmissionare suppressed. Such an 8B/10B coded data stream does not cause a shift of the zero level and can also be transmitted via frequency dependent modules.

The main advantages are the two-wire technology with which the board layout is simplified and reduces the development costs.
