e-mail communication
Email communication is the way email clients communicate with each other. Generally, mail protocols are used to transport emails across the various mail servers and agents until they are stored in the appropriate mailbox.
Well-known mail protocols include Simple Mail Transfer Protocol( SMTP), Post Office Protocol( POP), and Internet Message Access Protocol( IMAP). The e-mail account holder has access permission to the mailbox and can retrieve the e-mails from there.
Only after the e-mail account owner has read the e-mails, he can react and answer them, forward them, archive them, delete them or rate them as junk. Since e-mail communication is vulnerable to attack, the data integrity of e-mails and their attachments can be ensured by digital certificates. In addition, e-mail communication can be protected with asymmetric encryption. Encryption methods used for this are Secure MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) and Pretty Good Privacy( PGP).
