energy conserving system (power management) (ECS)
Energy Conserving Systems(ECS) are electronic circuits that support power management( PM) in mobile devices and minimize their power consumption. As a result, less power is drawn from the batteries and the battery operating time is extended accordingly.
Such power saving systems use power saving techniques such as Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling( DVFS), which scales the clock frequency and operating voltage of processors, or Dynamic Process and Temperature Compensation( DPTC), which works with temperature optimization.
Scaling and optimizing operating data is one basis of energy-saving systems, and Power Managed Components( PMC) is another. Since the power consumption of processors depends largely on the application, Adaptive Voltage Scaling( AVS) is another technique that uses application-specific performance data to scale power consumption.
