enhanced synchronous DRAM (ESDRAM)

The Enhanced Synchronous DRAM (ESDRAM) is comparable to the Enhanced DRAM( eDRAM).

An ESDRAM consists of a Synchronous Dynamic RAM( SDRAM) and a small Static RAM( SRAM). Since access via the SRAM is faster than that via the Synchronous Dynamic RAM (SDRAM), this combination memory chip is predestined for use in caches. For example, ESDRAM, which is the synchronous version of EDRAM, is mainly used in the second level cache( L2). The access times are 6 ns and the clock rate between 133 MHz and 166 MHz. The ESDRAM is supplied with 3.3 V (3V3) and has 168 pins.
