Network Integrated Processing (NIP) is a concept of distributed computing power when computers are interconnected via high-speed networks, such as ATM or other High Speed Local Area Networks (HSLAN) and High Speed Wireless Local Area Networks (HSWAN). In such an environment, it is possible to share processing power over arbitrary distances. NIP applications can be pooled across a dispersed pool of CPU power for compute-intensive computing tasks.
