The asymmetrical signal routing is two- wire: the useful signal is transmitted on one conductor, the other conductor is ground and thus the necessary second reference level.

In contrast to balanced signals, with asymmetrical signal routing the signal can be superimposed by interference signals.

As long as asymmetrical cables are sufficiently short and have good shielding, interference is not a problem, especially if the impedance is low. With the sheath waves there is interference radiation, which propagates on the cable shielding.

Asymmetrical cables are coaxial cables which are mainly used in high frequency technology and audio technology.
