virtual path terminator (ATM) (VPT)

A Virtual Path Terminator (VPT) is a system that separates the virtual channels, Virtual Channels( VC), from the virtual paths, Virtual Paths( VP), in Asynchronous Transfer Mode( ATM) and allows independent control of each channel. The virtual channels can in turn be combined into new virtual paths.
