virtualization-based security (VBS)

Virtualization-basedsecurity(VBS) separates computer processes from the computer's operating system. This allows the operating system and application programs to be better protected against malware and other threats.

Virtualization-based security works by using a hypervisor to create virtual machines( VM). These host and store their data before running processes on the operating system. This allows injected viruses and malware to attack only the process in question, but not spread beyond the virtual machine and cause damage. This prevents attackers from exploiting vulnerabilities and penetrating the system.

Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) is already integrated in some operating systems.Windows 10, for example, works with a Microsoft hypervisor in which the data of the computing processes is stored independently of the operating system.
