CloudStack

CloudStack is a cloud service from Apache as Infrastructure as a Service( IaaS). Via this cloud service, IT service providers can offer companies their own cloud services and hybrid cloud services.

CloudStack is similar in concept to OpenStack, but the two services are designed for different applications. Unlike OpenStack, CloudStack targets service providers and enterprises to create and operate private clouds with the characteristics of Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud.

CloudStack allows virtual machines to be assigned to individual servers. It also includes a networking feature, the switches to create and manage virtual networks, object and block storage systems. With CloudStack, administrators can provision and manage large networks of virtual machines with various hypervisors. For example, with VMware, Citrix's XenServer, Xen Cloud Platform, Oracle's VM Server or Microsoft's Hyper-V.
