RS-170

RS-170 is the standard specified by the Electronics Industries Association( EIA) for B/W television with 30 full frames and 525 lines per frame. The resulting line frequency is 15.750 kHz.

The RS-170 standard was used in North America, Japan and some other countries. Two fields were transmitted, each with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The lines themselves contain the brightness information. RS-170 and RS-170A formed the B/W basis for the color-coded NTSC standard.

The video signal specified in RS-170 has a peak amplitude of 1.4 V, including sync pulses. The white levelis +1.0 V, the black level is +0.075 V, the blanking level is at 0 volts, and the sync level is -0.4 V. All values refer to an impedance of75 ohms.
