personal area networking profile (Bluetooth) (PAN)
In addition to the LAN Access Profile( LAP), the PersonalArea Networking Profile( PAN) is another Bluetooth profile for network connections with the TCP/ IP protocol.
The difference to the LAP profile is that Bluetooth devices can also communicate directly, i.e. without using the switching functions of the Bluetooth network, via TCP/IP protocols. In addition, there is no need for the Point to Point Protocol( PPP).
Using PAN profiles, Bluetooth end devices can be coupled to a local network via an access point( AP), as with the LAP profile, but they can also form an independent PAN group.
