time division multiple access/frequency diversity duplex (MMDS) (TDMA/FDD)
There are various transmission techniques for Multichannel Multipoint Distribution System( MMDS). Time Division Multiplex Access/Frequency Division Duplex( TDMA/ FDD) is probably the most common and is also used in GSM.
In the TDMA/FDD method, which aims to implement duplex wireless links over one or more channels, the downstream channel, the channel from the hub to the terminal, is designed as a broadcast channel; transmission is only to the user who is addressed.
The upstream transmission takes place over different frequencies, divided into time slots that are dynamically made available to the user. TDMA/FDD is particularly suitable for the transmission of small data packets, as in ATM. For large data packets, more time slots are made available to the user.
