RAID 3

With RAIDlevel 3, the "byte striping with parity disk", several hard disks, usually 4 to 5, are used. The data blocks are divided into individual bytes and written alternately to the data drives of the disk arrays. An additional parity byte is added to the data records, but this is stored on an additional hard disk, the parity disk. If a hard disk fails, the data can be calculated from the remaining user data and the parity information via the RAID system.
