film super twisted nematic (display) (FSTN)
InSTN technology, the different wavelengths of light cause different propagation speeds, which leads to undesirable color effects in the display on the display modules.
This effect is compensated for in the more advanced display technologies DSTN (D, Double), FSTN (F, Film), CSTN (C, Color) and TSTN (T, Triple).
In the FSTN (Film Super Twisted Nematic) technology, a thin glued-on film is used to compensate for the unwanted color effects by rotating the light in the direction that opposes the plane of polarization of the TN cell. This compensates for the color distortions and the monochromatic FSTN technology displays the characters in white.
