virtual router (VR)

Virtual private networks(VPNs) are increasingly demanding virtual routing. In this context, users want to make their own configuration in the enterprise network and secure data transfer via the Internet and intranet themselves, independent of service providers and carriers.

Virtual routers( VR) can facilitate these applications, just as they can for a spatially distributed storage network or the provision of broadband services.

A virtual router is a software-based router that consists of multiple subunits that process different routing tables. A virtual router must operate completely independently of other systems, a separate Routing Information Base (RIB) is required for all routing protocols, and it must support firewalls, Network Address Translation( NAT), and Quality of Service( QoS).
